MIND BADMINTON TOURNAMENT 2016

20-Nov-2016

Saturday, 3rd December 2016 Baldoyle Badminton Centre, Baldoyle

MIND (Malayalee Indians, Ireland) is a voluntary community organisation established in February 2008. We are based in Dublin. The main aim of MIND is to promote the culture, tradition and the rich heritage of Kerala (South India) in the society we live in and also use our events as a platform to share and learn the Irish culture and tradition and also integrate with other migrant communities in Dublin City.

Apart from other cultural events, we also organise annual sports events like Cricket tournament and Badminton tournament. Both these events are well known in the community. There are lots of young talents playing cricket and badminton in the past years. This year one of the MIND Committee member has even started a badminton club exclusively for kids, “Whitehall Junior Badminton Club”. Some of the MIND Committee members are also part of the Irish League Badminton.

Again this year we are gearing up to organise the “All Ireland Badminton Tournament – 2016” on Saturday, 3rd December 2016 at Baldoyle Badminton Centre, Baldoyle, Dublin 13. Last year we had 68 teams participating in the event and players came from all over Dundalk, Limerick, Belfast, Cork etc., We also had mixed doubles tournaments for the first time, which was a huge success. As always, we want to showcase integration through sports.

As a first time, we have invited Irish Premier club players and we are happy that they have agreed to participate. It would be great to watch Irish Olympians playing in our tournament.

It would be a one-day tournament and the winners and runners-up will be felicitated with trophies, medals and cash prize in the evening.

We would like to partner with Dublin City Council – the Integration Office and the Sports department and seek your support in hosting the tournament.
